随着全球城市化进步，当代雕塑艺术早已深入公共空间，成为不可或缺的组成部分。林大艺术中心携手中国著名雕塑艺术家高孝午，为新加坡呈献《境生人和：高孝午个人艺术展》，探索人类共同经验与都市环境交织的关系美学。

As urbanization advances worldwide, contemporary sculpture has become an integral component of public spaces. Linda Gallery collaborates with renowned Chinese sculptor Gao Xiaowu to present Singapore with “Harmony in Landscape: GAO XIAOWU Solo Exhibition”, exploring the relational aesthetics woven between shared human experiences and urban context.

新加坡作为一个广受国际赞誉的“花园城市”，其建设理念与高孝午二十多年来的人文主义关怀创作脉络不谋而合。2004年，高孝午以《标准时代》系列作品在中国当代艺坛一炮而红。被标准化约束的鞠躬和微笑是高孝午为身边人做的画像，追寻不同时空下人类生存意义的本质联系，反思生命价值。

Singapore’s internationally acclaimed “Garden City” ethos resonates profoundly with Gao Xiaowu’s artistic pursuit of humanistic care for over two decades. In 2004, Gao rose to prominence in China’s contemporary art scene with his “Standard Age” series. These works capture the standardized gestures of bowing and smiling that served as portraits of individuals constrained by societal norms, reflecting on the universal essence of human existence across time and space, while reflecting on life’s value.

如果说他的成名作更多的是对个人经验和社会问题的发问，那么自2013年高孝午开始修学佛法后诞生的《再生》与《共境》系列则是将对生命的思考扩展到对万物的思考，标志着他在新世纪第二个十年的最新突破。透过鱼、鹿、龟、鹤、蜻蜓、桃花等动植物自然生长的意象的融合，高孝午用一种温和无戾气的方式，解构当代社会所面临的问题与挑战，用轻松幽默的雕塑语言揭示人与自然和谐共生的理性思辨，以平等心邀约大众，“用再生唤醒最初的自然”，力图将其艺术作用于中国社会的最大有效性在新加坡继续传递。

If Gao’s early works channeled personal experiences and emotions, his latest “Rebirth” and “Shared Environment” series, born from his epiphany gained from Buddhist philosophy since 2013, mark a pivotal breakthrough. Gao expands his contemplation of life to embrace all beings. By fusing organic motifs like fish, deer, tortoise, crane, dragonfly, and peach blossoms, he deconstructs contemporary challenges without aggression through a mild and benign approach. His whimsical sculptural language reveals a rational meditation on human-nature harmony, extending an open invitation to “call upon the rebirth of primitive nature”. Profoundly projecting to the Chinese society, the art of Gao now journeys to Singapore.

高孝午的创作从儿时的乡土中获得能量与滋养，材质肌理和造型色彩的细节不断放大着其中蕴含的公共符号价值。在艺术家尝试通过多元化的雕塑语言理解世间各种生命的关系时，观众与雕塑的互动也构成了人与人、人与万物之间生生不息的对话。在这一过程中，是否会问出那个被边缘化的疑问：现代化的文明是否正在干扰我们对自然的原始感知？

Drawing spirit from his rural childhood, Gao creates sculptures in which textures, materials, forms, and colors magnify universally recognizable symbols. As the artist weaves diverse sculptural languages to examine life’s interconnectedness, viewer interaction sparks continuous interpersonal dialogues as well as between humanity and nature. Within this exchange lies a marginalized yet vital question: Is modern civilization eroding our innate sensitivity to nature?
